David Attwooll, Director, has 37 years' experience of a wide range of publishing platforms and market sectors. He was formerly Editorial Director of Oxford University Press's reference and consumer publishing, and Managing Director of Random House UK's Paperback and Reference Divisions.

He then founded and built up Helicon Publishing Limited to a quoted business, with wholly owned reference databases of over 20 million words, and a 'platform-independent' business model with significant online revenues. He has experience of analysing and negotiating a broad range of corporate transactions.

He has planned and implemented many major new product launches including: OUP's World's Classics paperbacks and US reference list; Vintage and Red Fox imprints for Random House; print, CDROM, and online versions of The Hutchinson Encyclopedia; and WHSmith Online's content based 'portal'.

David Attwooll is Chairman of Liverpool University Press; a non-executive Director of Duncan Baird Publishing Ltd and of Oxford Inspires; Chair of Oxford Artweeks; and a member of the Industry Advisory Board for the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies.
